Fairy tales end with a "and they lived happily ever after" line. But as we all wonder, what really lies after the 'happy ever after? After the characters were together, was it all sunshine and rainbows? Ayase Chihaya learns the hard way of what it feels like to lose something she had taken for granted. But can she actually regain it? Or is it going to be a regret forever?

The day after Taichi's birthday, Chihaya accompanies her boyfriend to the station now that he is moving to Kyoto, taking advantage of their time together to try to find out what gift Taichi was hoping for that year.

Taichi was finally able to set a date to pick her up for a little reunion. But fate seems on hell-bent in just making it difficult for our favorite airhead. Would she be able to meet her man after all?

Taichi had troublesome rivals. Chihaya had promising high school karuta players. Arata was living the city life. Shinobu was too cool for university. Suo was seriously looking for a bride. And a secret society was formed. Things changed as everyone moved forward but some things stayed the same: they still played karuta, and Komano's eyes remained a mystery.

I hated how gently she pleaded and how sure she sounded. It was when she was sure that I almost always ended up wrong. Taichi and Chihaya finally caught up with each other in Omi Jingu and attempted to talk like calm, normal adults.

In the clubroom, on the train ride, on the road home... Things accumulate. But where Taichi is gone, Chihaya only notices what's missing, and not what to her are replacements.

They should have known that fake dating never goes according to plan. In which Mashima Taichi doesn't want to be bothered by his mother's prospects anymore and Ayase Chihaya hates her sister's attempts of finding her a boyfriend.

Chitose begrudgingly walks against the snow. Taichi chases after her. Chihaya stands in the cold, suffocating in her silent screams of desperation. What else can happen on winter in Omi Jingu when the Queen-Meijin matches continue? Story picks up after chapter 225.
