This is a story about a depressed German officer named Colonel Frederick Auburg in Holland, spring 1941. Why is he depressed? His wife is dead, and he has to kill Jews, he hates his job because of it. Will a certain Jewish woman help him, or will he remain a slowly deteriorating depressed soul?
