Doctor Harrison returns to Cranford with his wife in time to assist with the birth of Martha's second baby. This is basically a fix-it written to save Martha's life as I could not bear to see her die in the series. Rated T for labour, mention of blood, mention of death and fear of death.

What happened between Mr. Buxton finding out William and Peggy were engaged, and the scene where William asks Captain Brown to take him on as an apprentice? What might William have told Peggy after his father forbade their marriage? This is what I came up with. One-shot, though it could be part of a longer story one day.

Not my usual genre. I only watched S2 for Tom Hiddleston. And as a great fan of h/c & medical procedures I was very disappointed not to see more of William's treatment and recovery after the explosion. So trying to fill the gaps here. Fits in between Mr. Buxton saying he called for the surgeon, and Peggy finding William asleep. Can be read without knowing the show, details inside.
