Henry, Jo, Lucas, and Hanson leave McSorley's one night and find themselves somehow transported back in time to a New York City of the 1890's. It will take them a while to get back to their own time but in the meantime, they learn that they have to rely on Henry's knowledge of that time in order to survive.
