It's Barney West's first full trip west with his new 'father' and his Wagon Train family. When Bill is found by Coop, severely injured, both Barney and Bill face a gauntlet that could tear them apart.

Can Bill also learn to let his friends help bear his burdens as friends do.

In the first season, Bill's wife is travelling along with the wagon train. A few seasons later, however, Bill tells Barnaby that he never had time for a wife. So how do we reconcile the two?

I had a request, after posting Cooper Smith's nightmare, for a story based on The Richard Bloodgood Story. I wanted to do a Christmas story. I have combined the two ideas. The restoration of his friendship with Charlie Wooster is his best gift.
